Rick Bartle, Head of School at ASD

Rick Bartle, Chairman

Founder, Stratus Business Development. Rick is the Founder of Stratus Business Development, a consulting firm specializing in advisory and project management services for public and private aviation organizations. A native of New Hampshire and a graduate of Daniel Webster College’s School of Aviation, he brings more than 30 years of experience as an aviation professional. A serial entrepreneur, Rick is passionate about building high-performing individuals and organizations. He is deeply committed to advancing STEM education and workforce development, serving as a Trustee of ASD and holding board positions with Bridgewater State University, Nashua Community College, and New Hampshire’s Statewide Workforce Innovation Board. Rick resides in Southern New Hampshire with his family and enjoys hiking, skiing, and traveling whenever possible.
Alan Chan, ASD Board of Trustees Vice Chair

Alan Chan, Vice Chair

CTO, Fat Mongoose Technologies, Inc. Alan Chan is an engineer and leader who loves to teach and build. As CTO of Fat Mongoose Technologies, a Nashua, NH company, he develops communications systems deployed worldwide, drawing on a career that began in defense and has grown into telecommunications and software systems. Alan earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Systems Engineering from Boston University and is a patent holder in communications technology, with work spanning RF systems design, satellite communications, and full-stack Internet of Things development. As a father of two daughters, Alan is invested in building the kind of community where every kid can see themselves solving hard problems and doing meaningful work. The Academy for Science and Design is where he puts that into practice.

Mike Bailey, Treasurer

Senior Digital Technology Manager, Raytheon Technologies. Mike is a Project Management Professional (PMP) who holds degrees in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, and Computer Science, and brings public service experience as former Budget Committee Chairman for the Town of Pelham. He chairs our Finance and Personnel committees.

Lisa McAneney, Secretary/Clerk

Senior Analyst, Post Market Surveillance, Abbott Laboratories. Lisa serves on our Finance and Personnel committees.
Kent Glossop, ASD Board of Trustees member

Kent Glossop

Senior Principal Software Engineer, Intel Corp. (retired). Kent was a software engineer for well over 40 years, involved with software development tools and experimental computer architectures. His involvement with ASD started before it opened in 2007. He was ASD Board Chair for several years early in the life of the school as it grew from 35 students through multiple doublings of enrollment and navigated early stage growth challenges. In addition to ASD Board involvement, he was a software mentor for the Team Phoenix robotics team for quite a few years. Both of his sons graduated from ASD. He currently chairs the Academic Committee.
Karen Graham, ASD Board of Trustees member

Karen J. Graham, PhD

Professor, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of New Hampshire. Karen J. Graham, Ph.D. is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Hampshire where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and advises doctoral students in mathematics education. Dr. Graham served as the inaugural director of the UNH Joan and James Leitzel Center for Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Education from 2002-2013 and served the Board of Directors of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) from 2012-2015. Her research interests include the teaching and learning of undergraduate mathematics and teacher development. Dr. Graham has served as the PI or Co-PI on numerous externally funded grants and has an extensive list of publications and conference presentations. She chaired the writing group for Catalyzing Change in High School Mathematics: Initiating Critical Conversations released by NCTM in 2018 and recently served on the high school writing team for the CBMS report, The Mathematical Education of Teachers III.

Kimo Johnson, PhD

Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer, GelSight, Inc. Kimo Johnson, Ph.D. is a technology entrepreneur and scientist with a passion for STEM education and interdisciplinary learning. He is Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of GelSight, Inc., a startup commercializing advanced 3D imaging technology used for precision measurement and quality control in aerospace, space, and other high-tech industries. His work bridges computer vision, robotics, and machine learning. Dr. Johnson earned dual undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Music Theory from the University of New Hampshire, followed by a master’s degree in electro-acoustic music and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Dartmouth College. During his postdoctoral research at MIT, he co-invented the GelSight technology, work that drew global industry interest and led to founding the company in 2011. A longtime advocate for hands-on STEM learning, Dr. Johnson values integrating science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the arts. He is proud to support the Academy for Science and Design and its mission to prepare students for future technical and creative careers.

Duane Laflotte

Chief Technology Officer, Pulsar Security. Duane is a highly motivated and experienced offensive security operator with a specialized focus on exploitation and risk analysis. With an extensive background in networking, software, web infrastructure, and programming languages, Duane has successfully designed and implemented security solutions for government intelligence agencies and Fortune 500 companies. His expertise spans advanced security tactics, reverse engineering, and disaster recovery, making him a trusted leader in the cybersecurity domain.
