Experiences and Traditions
ASD has a culture all its own, built through years of shared experiences and traditions that students carry with them long after graduation.
At ASD, community is not something that happens by accident. It is built deliberately, through shared experiences and traditions that bring students, families, and staff together year after year. Some of these moments are silly. Some are solemn. All of them matter.
ASD draws students from more than 30 towns across New Hampshire, and yet from the moment they arrive, they become part of something shared. Each grade level has its own spirit color, worn proudly through the years and culminating in the tie-dye shirts seniors wear at graduation, a visible reminder of how far they have come. The year kicks off with the Back to School BBQ and the 5K Family Fun Fest, two traditions that have a way of turning a group of students from across the state into a community almost immediately.
Along the way, there are moments that become part of the ASD legend: the dodgeball tournament between grade levels, the overnight Lock-In with karaoke hosted by our engineering teacher, the fall Yule Ball, ROMP for middle schoolers, and Prom for upperclassmen. Families stay connected through the fall corn maze trip and the annual spring gala, an evening of food, celebration, and dancing that brings the whole community together. Students also have the opportunity to travel during April vacation, domestically or internationally, and the end-of-year trip to Canobie Lake Park has become a schoolwide favorite.

The legendary dodgeball tournament between grade levels has become one of the most anticipated events of the year, where class pride, friendly competition, and community spirit collide.

Milestones are honored with intention. Middle school students mark their transition to high school with a Step Up ceremony at the Nashua Center for the Arts, the same stage where seniors will walk across just hours later at commencement.
